Drugs, alcohol & Co.: There is no such thing as consumption without hesitation – health

Just a bit of excess, loss of control, expansion of consciousness – and then: stop, this is where it gets dangerous? That does not exist. Why drug use is always risky.

Franz Kafka’s “Little Fable” describes an overwhelmed mouse. At first the world seems too confusing to her, so she is “happy” when she sees walls in the distance. There seems to be a widespread need for boundaries. Freedom, yes, but please with specific guidelines. Up to here and no further. A clearance certificate would be nice, especially for intoxicants. With that, a limited excess would be possible, an inkling of a loss of control or even an expansion of consciousness – which is what both legal and illegal drugs promise. Until it says: stop, stop, this is where it gets dangerous.
