“Drive like a woman”, the astonishing campaign that dismantles clichés

They drive a little less regularly than men, but are in any case much more careful when this is the case. While women behind the wheel fuel many clichés, sometimes the most misogynistic, a road safety association wants to set the record straight on this so-called “death at the bend”. Against preconceived ideas, Victims and Citizens A campaign has even been released encouraging men to “drive like women”.

This astonishing message, broadcast in particular in the corridors of the Paris metro and on the Internet since the beginning of the week, aims “to initiate awareness among male drivers to bring about a change in mentality and therefore behavior”, underlines Victims and Citizens.

Nearly 9 out of 10 young drivers killed are men

The association has compiled several telling figures to support its statement: 84% of fatal accidents are caused by men, 88% of young drivers killed are men, 93% of drunk drivers involved in an accident are men, but also 84 % of invalidated licenses belong to… men.

While road deaths are started to rise again, Victims and Citizens indicates that female drivers are 8 times less likely to have a fatal accident than male drivers. They commit much fewer offenses, especially the most serious ones. “Driving like a woman means only one thing, staying alive,” says the campaign.
