Leonie Adam knows it very well and she has known it since she was a small child: she wants to be a veterinarian one day. “I feel like I have half a farm at home anyway,” says the 15-year-old: a dog, three cats, fish. She once had a hamster, budgies, before that another hamster. “And they all died,” calls a classmate from behind. Everyone giggles. Leonie shrugs. Yes, the profession of vet also has disadvantages, of course, some animals do not survive. “But that’s part of it, I was there when my cat was put to sleep.”
