It’s done! SV Wehen Wiesbaden prevailed very confidently in the relegation against Arminia Bielefeld on Tuesday evening. The 4-0 win from the first leg was followed by a 2-1 (2-1) on the Alm. The early opening goal by Fabian Klos (4th) was countered by Benedict Hollerbach with a brace (35th/45th + 2) and was so to the match winner.

After three years of abstinence, the club from the Hessian state capital is returning to the second division. The East Westphalians, on the other hand, are passed from the 1st Bundesliga to the 3rd League within twelve months.

Klos hits early for Arminia

SVWW coach Markus Kauczinski saw no reason to change his starting eleven after the clear first-leg success. The Arminia, on the other hand, made five changes.

And the initial phase belonged to the newly formed Bielefeld team, who took the lead after four minutes. After a long shot by goalkeeper Martin Fraisl, the ball landed at Klos who, with the kind help of goalkeeper Florian Stritzel, scored (4th).

Hollerbach becomes the SVWW match winner

Then there were chances here and there. Ivan Prtajin missed twice (6th/8th). At Bielefeld, a header from Oliver Hüsing hit the crossbar (26′), and Hollerbach just missed the subsequent counterattack (27′).

After 35 minutes, however, the estimated 1,000 SVWW fans who had traveled with them tumbled stones from their hearts. Prtajin put Hollerbach in the limelight and scored after a long run to equalize (35′) – a great goal! And the 22-year-old showed again in stoppage time why Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln are chasing him. Hollerbach dropped two defenders and – slightly deflected – tied the brace (45+2).

SVWW prevails overall with 6:1

The SVWW was able to make the second round a little quieter and concentrate on defensive work. The Kauczinski team nevertheless put the first pinprick on the offensive, Hollerbach’s shot from an acute angle defused Fraisl in dire need (50′). The pulse on the Wiesbaden side only went up once, but Gino Fechter made two spectacular saves (69th).

After the first and second leg, SV Wehen Wiesbaden won 6-1 overall. The SVWW is thus the eleventh third division team to prevail against the second division team in the relegation reintroduced in 2009.
