Donauinsel: Investor wants to stretch a cable car over Vienna’s nudist area – Panorama

It is now a question of paying tribute to a minority that has so far received too little attention in the current minority debates: the peaceful nudists (mostly he is male and a bit older). He gets by without any polyester from Bangladesh or China, he mostly rejects nuclear power as well as coal energy, combustion engines or battery-powered scooters, which just end up somewhere in the river anyway. As a user of an ancient bicycle, the nudist lives modestly and in harmony with nature. He meets like-minded people at his favorite waters, splashes, chats, browses and lets his soul dangle. Meanwhile, there is excitement again in the neighboring textile sector, which is much more digitally affine. “Have you seen, heard, read this and that?” The peace nudist, however, usually does not participate. He just lies there and lets the sun, wind and meadow caress his skin.

But does he really care? A number of Austrian nudists (they only exist there) were outraged by the fact that an unscrupulous investor wanted to stretch a cable car to the Kahlenberg over Vienna’s Danube Island for them. When the press agency confronted the person responsible with the accusations, he tried to reassure the non-clothed people: He said that the cable car could also be built in such a way that a frosted glass switch would be activated in the passenger gondolas as soon as they entered the nudist area fly over. And then it’s over with the gossip.

We now have to wait and see how the story continues. Important approvals for this urban cable car construction are still pending, the authorities grind slowly. But the peaceful nudist thinks to himself: Should they just stare, the clothed ones with their digital cameras. And should they really be hovering over me in their frosted glass gondolas, the shadows they cast will protect me from sunburn.
