When a film is called “My Falcon” and is about a woman who, after a broken marriage, has renounced all human relationships in order to bring a wild animal into her home instead, one has to fear the worst. The programs of book publishers and the documentary sections of streaming services are full of variants of this same story: me and my lion, me and my octopus, raccoon, robin. The animal is assigned the role of teacher, who coaxes the little human struggling in the downward spiral back to the safe shore, where the meaning of life already awaits. This is almost always bullshit. Unfortunately, wild animals are not there to teach us humans the great mantra of existence, in fact they don’t need us. As long as we don’t bother them, they don’t care about us.
