It was an action plot, ready for film and perhaps actually the “crastest do-it-yourself evacuation operation of all time,” as journalist Emran Feroz called it: a year ago in mid-August, Afghanistan fell to the Taliban, and a tiny, spontaneously founded one The clique around the journalist Theresa Breuer tried what the USA did poorly and the Federal Republic hardly succeeded at all: to fly out those people who believed in the promises of the West, who worked for international organizations, exposed themselves, and were committed to women’s rights and freedom of the press. “Kabul Airlift” they called their organization, and about the history of the spectacular charter flight, with which Breuer and some German journalists – also from the southern Germans – Landed at Kabul’s embattled airport at the end of August 2021, Emran Feroz made a fast-paced podcast: “Inside Kabul Airlift”.
