Do you prefer to play day one video games or wait several months?

Christmas gifts open on the evening of the 24th or in the morning of the 25th? A debate as old as that of the chicken and the egg, which the community of the video game is also confronted with. FIFA, Diablo IV, Cyberpunk 2077 and now Starfield, Bethesda’s latest baby: These high-expectation, hugely-watched games are often characterized by gamers as “day one” games. To be translated as “day one” for our friends at the French Academy, which applies to games that will be tested from the day, or even the hour of release.

On the other hand, these same “day one” games will be launched by some months or even years later. The reasons are wide: a catalog of games (say “backlog” if you want to impress the gallery) too extensive, a lack of money, a computer not powerful enough, repeated bugs… even lack of time.

And you, which side of the video game Christmas tree are you on, and why? Tell us while filling out this form. Your testimony will be used to write an article.
