Is German television diverse? The moderator sees a need to catch up. The topic has to start with the script or in the production office.

Moderator Riccardo Simonetti (30) still sees some catching up to do when it comes to diversity on German television. “I already have the feeling that the topic Diversity is on everyone’s lips. But from my point of view there is still a lack of implementation,” Simonetti told the German Press Agency on the sidelines of the German Television Prize in Cologne.

“Just because a quota-diverse person is there doesn’t mean you’ve done something for the community.” It is important that various characters also have authentic storylines. “Different perspectives should be included in the script or in the production office so that mistakes that still happen here and there can be avoided,” said the 30-year-old on Thursday evening.
