The big wide world meets behind Siegfried Tatschl’s house: the pomegranate tree from Russia grows peacefully next to the Ukrainian apricot-wild apricot hybrid from the Crimea, while the Chinese kaki is doing splendidly next to the walnut tree from Japan. “The diversity of species in the garden shows people how it could work,” says Tatschl. Even if he has no influence on world politics, he is right when he says: “We are planting hope here.”
