District of Munich – Half a million vaccinations in the vaccination centers – District of Munich

After the closure of the vaccination centers in Haar, Unterschleißheim, Oberhaching and Planegg, the district office takes stock.

Since the beginning of the new year, anyone who decides to get vaccinated against Corona or needs a refresher course has had to go to the doctor’s office, company doctor and pharmacist in the Munich district. After two years and four days, the vaccination centers all stopped operating as planned. As the last remaining position until the end of 2022, the facility in Haar has also closed. According to a balance sheet from the district office, a total of 863,271 vaccinations were carried out between December 27, 2020 and December 31, 2022, of which 268,761 were first vaccinations and 281,015 were second vaccinations. 313,495 booster doses were administered, with the first booster given to 245,791 people willing to be vaccinated and the second, which is recommended for people over 60 and those with previous illnesses, 61,978. A third booster was injected 5343 times and a fourth 383 times.

A little more than half of them, namely 495,002 vaccinations, were carried out in the three, sometimes four vaccination centers in Haar, Unterschleißheim, Oberhaching and Planegg. In addition, the operators of the centres, the Bavarian Red Cross, the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe and the Malteser Hilfsdienst have sent mobile teams to a total of 669 community vaccination days and special vaccination campaigns over the past two years. Mobile teams also visited old people’s and care facilities, schools and other institutions more than 1000 times. A total of 61,000 injections were administered during mobile vaccination campaigns. Most vaccinations were given to 18- to 59-year-olds, at 495,002. The authority registered 299,141 vaccinations in the age group over 60 years and 51,159 vaccinations in the 12 to 17 year olds. In the group of five to eleven year olds, for whom vaccination recommendations were only made later, 17,944 immunizations were recorded. In addition, 25 children with previous illnesses aged between six months and four years received a vaccination.

District Administrator Christoph Göbel (CSU) uses the balance sheet to thank those involved. “What has been done here by each and every one of those involved, whether in the district office or with our vaccination center operators, is unparalleled,” he says. These people not only took on a task, “but personally and with all their might to ensure that we can face the pandemic.” Many people have gone to their limits and beyond, “so that we can return to the normality that we have missed for so long and that we are now enjoying more and more,” said the district administrator, who once again reminded citizens of their personal responsibility appealed to stay at home if they were infected.
