District of Munich: district office moves to Riem – District of Munich

This Tuesday and Wednesday, March 22nd and 23rd, the first employees of the Munich district office will move into their offices at the authority’s new location in the trade fair city of Riem – and the district has a new, central home in the state capital, so to speak. Last year, the district acquired the office building between Joseph-Wild-Straße and Werner-Eckert-Straße, district administrator Christoph Göbel (CSU) and his office are silent about the purchase price. It is only known that the district council has released up to 100 million euros for the purchase of the property.

A new location for the district office with its more than 1000 employees had been discussed for years, and even the construction of a new authority was discussed for a long time. Ultimately, however, the district decided primarily because of the good accessibility of the new property for the district citizens, directly opposite the trade fair. In addition, it was and is the goal of the district administrator to significantly reduce the ten locations of his authority, which are spread across the entire state capital and the municipality of Grasbrunn with the vehicle registration office in the district of Keferloh, since the annual rental costs amount to around three Million Euros. The district office at Mariahilfplatz in der Au will remain in place.

The new location is to be gradually expanded

This is also due to the fact that not all employees can be relocated to the new location in Messestadt Riem, which is not yet large enough as other tenants are still occupying space. However, it is to be gradually expanded. In addition, Göbel had never ruled out that the district office at Mariahilfplatz would last forever.

The district administrator sees an advantage in the new location: “Even if citizens and employees first have to get used to different routes, I am sure that the new location represents a great improvement for everyone. It is not only very easy to reach in terms of transport Above all, it also offers attractive premises for both the employees and the customers of the district office.”

First, the building construction, real estate and schools department will move from Chiemgaustraße to the trade fair city, followed in April by the advice center for parents, children and young people, which will then no longer be located on Orleansplatz.
