District of Munich – Companies report many vacancies – District of Munich

Despite the difficult economic environment, many companies in the district of Munich are still desperately looking for workers. The number of vacancies reported to the employment agency increased significantly in December compared to the previous month. 671 job vacancies were reported, after 601 in November and 655 in October. The unemployment rate in the district of Munich remained at 2.5 percent in December. At the end of the year, 4,807 people were unemployed. Compared to 2021, this is an increase of 162 people. The situation has developed positively, especially with the refugees from Ukraine who have now been registered.

Wilfried Hüntelmann, CEO of the Munich employment agency, is satisfied overall. In his estimation, the figures show that companies are looking to the future with optimism. In the entire employment agency district – i.e. in the city and district of Munich – unemployment fell moderately from November to December 2022 by 295 to 40,373 people. “As usual, the winter has led to an increase in unemployment on the labor market – mainly among men. This was compensated for this December because unemployment among Ukrainians fell at the same time,” says Hüntelmann.

In detail, this means for the district: In December, 29 more people than in November were registered with the agency as looking for work. This corresponds to a month-on-month increase of 0.6 percent. The district’s job center, which looks after the long-term unemployed, registered a decrease of 39 to 2218 people from November to December. The number of people who have not been out of work for so long and who receive money from unemployment insurance rose by 68 to 2589.
