District of Munich – Authorities are planning large-scale accommodation for refugees – District of Munich

The district is planning the massive expansion of emergency shelters for war refugees from Ukraine. As district administrator Christoph Göbel (CSU) announced on Thursday, as in 2015, air domes and this time container buildings are to be built on greenfield sites. The latter is particularly necessary in order to adequately accommodate the many arriving women and children. Large halls are not suitable for this. The district is in talks with many town halls about land that will be made available, for example in Unterschleißheim. Some locations have already been determined. Refugees are taken in at Schwaneck Castle in Pullach.

According to the Göbel district, around a thousand people in need of protection have reached the district so far, and Göbel expects up to 3,000. Large accommodations should therefore be created. For example, they want to use the former company building in which the Air Force Music Corps resided in Unterhaching. An air dome could be erected on the roll call area there, two more such halls would be conceivable “in the vicinity”, including on the former runway in the landscape park. Other locations where the district is working flat out are in Oberhaching, Taufkirchen, Grünwald and Graefelfing.

In order to make it easier for people to arrive and to support the work of the authorities, the district office is looking for Ukrainian or Russian-speaking interpreters. If you want to apply, you can find the job advertisements on the homepage of the district (www.landkreis-muenchen.de) in the area of job offers.
