Where trade tax has fallen, there is compensation from the Free State. Poing, Pliening and Steinhöring benefit particularly strongly.
The Free State will compensate for the trade tax losses caused by the pandemic in 2021 at the municipal level: Affected cities and municipalities in the Ebersberg district will receive a total of more than two million euros. “The Free State of Bavaria is keeping its word in these difficult times and is making up for around half of the reduced income from trade tax,” says Thomas Huber (CSU), a member of the Ebersberg state parliament. And his colleague from the SPD, Ebersberg MP Doris Rauscher, explains: “The municipalities are carrying an enormous burden anyway, which is why I and my parliamentary group in the state parliament called for the compensation to continue in 2021.” Now she is happy that the Free State is fulfilling its responsibility for the Bavarian communities.
A down payment totaling almost 1.1 million euros had already been paid to the municipalities in the district in December for quick help. After the final calculation, it is now clear that the Ebersberg municipalities will receive even more money to compensate for the loss of trade tax in 2021 than expected: the total has increased by almost another million. For the final assessment, the 2021 trade tax was compared with the average revenue for the years 2017 to 2019, which were unaffected by the corona pandemic.
In the district of Ebersberg, the municipalities of Poing (EUR 1,083,000), Pliening (EUR 575,000) and Steinhöring (EUR 307,000) benefit from the compensation in particular; they were particularly hard hit by trade tax shortfalls. On the other hand, the municipalities, which according to the Ministry of Finance had a very good trade tax development in the fourth quarter, will have to reclaim the advance payments received. A total of 330 million euros are available throughout Bavaria for trade tax compensation in 2021.
For 2020, the Bavarian municipalities had already received flat-rate compensation for declines in trade tax totaling almost 2.4 billion euros to mitigate the consequences of the corona pandemic, 1.346 billion euros of which came from the Free State of Bavaria, the rest was covered by the federal government . The request of the Free State to the federal government to make a solidarity contribution for the year 2021 was not taken up.
