District of Dachau: Two young men take part in low-budget rally – Munich

Magnus Hohlenburger and Vincent Fichtl have set themselves a special goal: in 12 days they want to drive through 13 countries as part of a low-budget donation rally. In an interview, Magnus Hohlenburger explains what the requirements for participation are, how the rally works and what challenges the two see for themselves.

“Everything but vacation” is the motto under which Magnus Hohlenburger and Vincent Fichtl’s low-budget trip through the Balkans takes place. The paramedic from the Freising district and the fitter from Erdweg, both 23 years old, have been close friends since sixth grade. In July 2024 they face a whole new challenge: They take part in the “Pothole Rodeo. The biggest low budget rally”. In 12 days through 13 countries, 4500 kilometers in total – an adventure of a different kind. But the participants also combine their trip with a good cause: all the donations and sponsoring contributions collected go to the education and care of children in the Balkan countries. In addition, all participants have to complete various tasks along the way and are only allowed to cover the 4500 kilometers in special vehicles.
