The district’s debt counseling service is currently located at Caritas – and that’s how it should stay. Sebastian Leiß from the Free Voters Dachau (FWD) had requested in an application that this offer be located in the district office, but this idea was not approved in the district council. Neither the argument of the synergy effects in the cooperation with creditors, who are often also public authorities, nor the avoidance of conflicts in the accounts could convince the other district councillors. Especially since District Administrator Stefan Löwl (CSU) explained that billing problems have not existed since 2018. Since then, there have been flat rates that are much easier to settle. Marese Hoffmann (Greens) said that in many cases debt counseling also includes insolvency counseling and that the district should not take it on at all because it does not meet the requirements. It is therefore also sensible that these two advice centers remain with Caritas. Against the votes of AfD and FWD, after a short discussion, a majority came out in favor of the status quo.
