The district administrator in the Ahrweiler district, Jürgen Pföhler (CDU), who was criticized in the flood disaster, will no longer exercise his office. This was announced by the CDU parliamentary group in the Ahrweiler district.
“District Administrator Dr. Jürgen Pföhler can no longer exercise his office due to illness. His step to no longer exercise the office was therefore necessary and inevitable,” said a press release from the CDU parliamentary group on Monday evening. The trust of the people in the circle is no longer given. The district of Ahrweiler needs an unencumbered new start for the challenges of the coming years, according to the parliamentary group.
It has become apparent that there have been failures and mistakes in the past and on the day of the disaster, the CDU parliamentary group continues. It is therefore logical that the public prosecutor’s office initiated an investigation.

Public prosecutor’s office in Koblenz is investigating Pföhler
The public prosecutor’s office in Koblenz is currently investigating the district administrator Pföhler and another person from the crisis team for negligent bodily harm and negligent homicide by failure.
Last week, the SPD parliamentary group in the Ahrweiler district council called on the district administrator to resign in a resolution. However, one wanted to spare Pföhler and the people in the district a costly deselection process. The Greens in the district had also called for Pföhler’s resignation.
