Distinguished: Ebersberg District is Premier Municipality – Ebersberg

The district of Ebersberg was awarded the special prize “Prime Minister of the Year” at the Oskar Patzelt Foundation’s big prize for medium-sized businesses. District Administrator Robert Niedergesäß and Brigitte Keller, Head of the Central Department in the District Office, accepted the award last weekend in Bonn. “I am proud that our district was selected by the renowned Oskar Patzelt Foundation for this special award and that our diverse efforts for the Ebersberg district as a location are recognized nationally,” said the district administrator. As early as 2018, the Bavarian Economics Minister confirmed that the Grand Prix for SMEs took first place in a ranking of 536 German business competitions.

The foundation has been supporting entrepreneurship and medium-sized companies in Germany for almost three decades. In his laudatory speech, donor and founder Helfried Schmidt emphasized that the district, as an innovative and business-friendly municipality, was the first Bavarian district to be certified with the RAL quality mark for medium-sized administrations in February 2018. With 14 service promises, he offers companies planning security in terms of time and finances.

The efforts of the district to deal with the housing shortage in the region, including the founding of the housing association Ebersberg WBE gKU, were also highlighted. The activities of the district as an education region and health region plus were recognized as well as the certification as a bicycle-friendly district and the “Kommunal-Digital” project funded by the Free State, with which digitization in the district is being promoted. The energy agency Ebersberg Munich, the project “Fördern und Helfen” of the district office, the fire brigade and disaster protection plan, the action program 2030 for sustainable development in the region and the start of the promotion of hydrogen technology were also praised.

In 2018, the district had already received the “Grand Prize for SMEs” from the Oskar Patzelt Foundation. “The fact that the foundation has now honored the district with a further and much less frequently awarded prize is real recognition of our work, which spurs us on to continue on this path,” explains Brigitte Keller, who prepared the application in the district office.
