The streaming service Disney + celebrates its second US birthday on November 12th. However, the subscribers will be given presents on “Disney + Day”.

The Walt Disney Company has been supplying film and TV content to young and old since 1923. Since November 12, 2019, she has also been doing this via the in-house streaming service Disney +. You read that correctly, in a few days the service, which has produced in-house productions such as “The Mandalorian” or “Loki”, will be celebrating its second birthday.

Unlike on normal days of honor, however, the birthday boy does not receive presents. Rather, all subscribers can look forward to the first “Disney + Day” on November 12, 2021, which will bring them numerous premieres from the Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars universes. Here is an overview of the series and films waiting for all Disney fans.

From the cinema to the home cinema

With the blockbuster “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”, the first Asian superhero from the Marvel universe received his own solo adventure in early September 2021. And that with great success. Despite the severe Corona status, the film with Simu Liu (32) in the title role grossed over 420 million dollars at the global box office. To celebrate the second birthday of Disney +, “Shang-Chi” is going to all subscribers to the streaming service.

Another film will find its way from the big screen to the home theater on November 12th. The family-friendly adventure “Jungle Cruise”, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (49) and Emily Blunt (38), will also be available to all customers at no additional cost.

Without a detour to the cinema, the reinterpretation of an absolute cult classic lands at Disney + at Christmas time. “Not already at home again”, like “Kevin – Alone at home” around 21 years ago, puts a boy who was accidentally left alone in an awkward position. Instead of Kevin (Macaulay Culkin, 41), little Max (Archie Yates, 12, known from “Jojo Rabbit”) has to assert himself against burglars. They are aiming for easy prey – but made their calculations without the well-fortified boy. With Devin Ratray (44), a star from the two original films will also appear.

From Olaf to Homer to Boba

There is also something for animation fans. Fan favorite snowman Olaf from “The Ice Queen” presents his own series of short films in which he retells classic fairy tales in the usual charming way. Speaking of short films: The yellow cult family from Springfield aka “The Simpsons” also gets it. In it, Homer and the like review the biggest brands from Disney.

One of them is of course the Star Wars franchise. A particularly popular figure from the galaxy far, far away will get her own series from December 29th thanks to “The Book of Boba Fett”. Title antihero and bounty hunter Boba Fett pays Disney + a visit on November 12th. A special about the series goes back to its origins.

There is entertainment on the home earth too

If you prefer to stay in the world we know, you can have the Jurassic Park star explain it to you in the first five episodes of the new season “The World According to Jeff Goldblum”. Meanwhile, the original series “Dopesick” with Michael Keaton (70) and Will Poulter (28) offers haunting fare. Inspired by the New York Times bestseller of the same name, the series tells a fictional story about a supposed new miracle cure. After a short time, Dr. Samuel Finnix (Keaton), however, is aware that the pain reliever triggers excessively addictive behavior.

Regardless of “Disney + Day”, other promising series and films can be found on the streaming service in the fall. Friends of post-apocalyptic entertainment can enjoy “Y: The Last Man” or the eleventh and final season of “The Walking Dead”. And in “Only Murders In The Building”, Steve Martin (76), Martin Short (71) and Selena Gomez (29) go in search of a murderer as an unequal trio.
