Disappearance of Eden in the Landes: the boy’s bag and phone found, questions about his father

A call for witnesses was published on the Facebook page of the Landes gendarmerie on Thursday February 8 in the evening. A 9-year-old boy, Eden CL, disappeared in the town of Soustons. He hasn’t given any sign of life since 5:45 p.m. this Thursday. A helicopter was dispatched to the site on Friday morning to continue the search.

According to information from France Bleu Gascogne, the child left with his father this Thursday afternoon, as was planned with his ex-partner, the boy’s mother. But shortly after, the child’s backpack and cell phone were found by a passerby on the side of a road in Soustons. From, the man and his son are nowhere to be found.

A source close to the investigation explains that the boy’s father is described as depressed and adhering to conspiracy and survivalist theories. According to this same source, he also arrived barefoot at the meeting with his ex-partner. He does not have his cell phone with him, which was found at his home in Magescq.

Eden CL is 1.45m tall, with a thin build and short, brown hair. He is wearing “black jogging pants, black tennis shoes, a gray/blue hoodie, a black Kaporal brand jacket”, we can read in the gendarmes’ publication. A psychological unit was set up this Friday morning at the Soustons elementary school, in which Eden was educated, confirms the mayor of the town, Frédérique Charpenel.
