Disappearance of Delphine Jubillar: another blow for Cédric’s defense, the Court of Cassation has ruled on his detention

The Court of Cassation confirmed this Friday the continued detention of Cédric Jubillar, accused of the murder of his wife Delphine. His lawyers have been asking for his release for more than a year, to no avail.

It is a new failure for the defense of Cédric Jubillar. The appeal filed by his lawyers to request yet another request for release was rejected. This time not by the Court of Appeal, but by the Court of Cassertion.

On July 4, the investigation chamber of the Toulouse Court of Appeal estimated that Cédric Jubillar, suspect number 1 in the disappearance of his wife Delphine, was to remain in prison. This decision confirmed the order of the judge of freedoms and detention (JLD), which had extended his pre-trial detention by six months in June.

However, no questioning of this decision is now possible since this declaration that has just been made by the Court of Cassation.

“After having examined both the admissibility of the appeal and the procedural documents, the Court of Cassation finds that there is, in this case, no means of such a nature as to allow the appeal to be admitted. Consequently, the Court declares appeal not allowed,” the court said.

Folder “empty”

The defense sought by this recourse to question a legal procedure in a case where the file is “empty” estimates one of its lawyers Jean-Baptiste Alary.

Since June 2021, Cédric Jubillar has been in detention at the Seysses remand center near Toulouse. The investigators believe, since the disappearance of the nurse in December 2020 in Cagnac-les-Mines, to be in possession of “serious and consistent clues” incriminating the husband.
