Diesel scandal – SdK wants to contest comparison at VW – economy

In the diesel scandal at Volkswagen, the Association of Investors (SdK) is taking legal action against the compensation agreements with ex-boss Martin Winterkorn and other top managers. To this end, the SdK has, according to its own information, submitted a legal challenge to the relevant resolutions of the VW general meeting on July 22nd with the Hanover regional court. “The exact damage cannot be foreseen yet,” argue the shareholder representatives. “Nevertheless, the claims for compensation should already be finally settled.” A VW spokesman replied in Wolfsburg that the grounds for contestation cited by the SdK are “without any basis”. In June, after years of legal scrutiny, the Volkswagen Supervisory Board reached a settlement with the lawyers and insurers of the former top managers on the diesel scandal. Above all, the focus is on ex-boss Winterkorn’s joint responsibility. He pays 11.2 million, the total is almost 288 million euros. It also contains claims to ex-Audi boss Rupert Stadler and the ex-Porsche and Audi managers Wolfgang Hatz and Stefan Knirsch. These agreements were then approved by the VW general meeting.
