Diesel and gasoline fall below 1.80 euros per liter

Inflation is slowing in France. And at the pump, the French can also breathe. According to the latest figures, published by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, both gasoline and diesel are below 1.80 euros. Thus, SP95 is priced at 1.78 euros per liter, just like diesel.

Compared to last week, they show a respective decrease of 3.6 cents for gasoline and 2 cents for diesel. These are the lowest prices since the start of the year. This trend is explained by sales operations at cost price as well as the fall in oil prices. Even if they remain above the average of the last five years, prices have fallen sharply since their last surge at the end of September, when the barrel of Brent was close to 100 dollars.

Fall in oil prices

WTI fell by almost 21% and Brent by 18%, hovering around the symbolic $80 mark. Both crude benchmarks are now trading at levels lower than those recorded before the Hamas attack in Israel on October 7, which caused a temporary rise due to concerns about a possible escalation of the conflict.

The fall in prices could continue, driven by record production in the United States, Brazil and OPEC + members exempt from reductions, namely Libya, Venezuela and Iran. To the delight of French motorists.
