Did you experience your repeat year well or badly? Tell us !

Is repeating a year a “taboo” subject as judged by the Minister of National Education? In any case, it is a debate which comes up regularly and which is once again on the table after the publication of the international Pisa ranking on the level of education of students around the world.

In reaction to France’s disappointing results, Gabriel Attal therefore did it again, promising to change the rule for repeating a year and giving the last word to teachers, whereas today it is up to parents to decide. A measure criticized by some, and in particular the National Council for the Evaluation of the School System (CNESCO), who denounce both the cost and the educational ineffectiveness.

It is a response to poor results which has, however, long been considered a carrot allowing students to be frightened by the idea of having to repeat a year in the same class, but with classmates one year younger. Have you ever experienced the anxiety of being told that you are going to have to repeat the level you have just completed? How did you experience this second, or even third, year of the same class? Was this repetition an opportunity or a burden in your schooling? Tell us about your experience!
