Diakonie Munich: Cum-Ex charges against the head of the supervisory board – Munich

In the case of the resigned chairman of the supervisory board of the Diakonie Munich and Upper Bavaria, new details have come to light. As can be seen from an official document, the 58-year-old business graduate is one of two defendants in a cum-ex trial that has been before the Wiesbaden Regional Court since spring 2021. The charge is collective aggravated tax evasion. In total, according to the allegation, the accused, together with three other people, cheated the tax authorities by around 113 million euros in the years 2006 to 2008. According to a court spokeswoman, the verdict is scheduled for October 21. The presumption of innocence applies until a final judgment is reached.

The investigations began in 2012. In 2018, the Attorney General brought charges before the Wiesbaden Regional Court; The process finally started in spring 2021. It is piquant that the former chairman of the supervisory board was re-elected three times during the entire investigation period – in 2013, 2017 and in autumn 2021 – as first chairman of the supervisory board of the Diakonie Munich and Upper Bavaria. Diakonie Munich is a non-profit social enterprise whose offers – from work for the homeless to migration advice to a retirement home – are refinanced by the public sector. As a spokesman for the supervisory board said on Wednesday, the committee had already been informed about the cum-ex charge by the then chairman in 2018.
