Pink beats orange: The DFB team beat the Dutch 2-1. And RTL is celebrating top ratings for the color duel.

It can happen so quickly: With two victories against the giants France and the Netherlands, the German national team has won back the hearts of football fans. One of many indicators: the TV ratings of the RTL broadcast of the classic Germany against Holland on Tuesday evening. At its peak this meant 11.33 million viewers According to AGF Videoforschung in collaboration with GfK, up to 46.3 percent market share among the total audience – and a victory over the ZDF ratings on Saturday.

Not just hot and white

You can’t just do it in blossom white: since yesterday, victories in pink have also become part of German football history. The national goal premiere for defender Maximilian Mittelstädt (27) and the late shoulder hit by center forward Niclas Füllkrug (31) secured the victory against the Orange team. The impressive numbers show how hot the fans are for their heroes in pink: 10.26 million were on the screen in the first half. In the second half, up to 11.33 million tuned in. Germany’s victory in the color duel also gave the broadcaster RTL a higher rating than the ZDF broadcast against France three days earlier. These were seen by just over 10 million. Yesterday RTL achieved a total audience rating of 36.2 and a 46.3 percent market share.

Over 50 percent of the young viewers were there

A look at the ratings proves how eager young viewers in particular are to watch national team games again: in the target group of 14 to 49 year olds, a constant 3.29 million watched. 50.6 percent market share in the first half and 57.1 percent in the second half are extraordinary values that neither RTL nor the competition can otherwise achieve. An increase in the EM fever curve was already noticeable before kick-off. Even with preliminary coverage of the football classic, RTL reached a convincing 4.30 million people – a 25.0 percent market share among 14 to 49 year olds. So the European Championship can come. And even though there are strictly speaking no away games at a home European Championship, it’s nice to wear pink again.
