Something you only know has a beginning and an end, but how many turns there are to take is uncertain. Just like the question of whether you will end up in a dead end again or in the appendix. In between, a lot of surprisingly colorful things rush by. Like sugar sprinkles. It is difficult to tell whether they form a connection, thoughts for example or a meal.
