Core Ethereum developers have agreed a specific date to deploy the Dencun upgrade, scheduled for slot number 8626176. According to Tim Beiko From the Ethereum Foundation, slot numbers are currently expected to occur on March 13 at approximately 8:55 a.m. ET.
Dencun upgrade which will include features proto-danksharding The highly anticipated EIP-4844 passed to bring blob transactions and temporary storage to Ethereum mainnet, among other technical improvements.
EIP-4844 aims to include off-chain “data blobs” so that more data can be included in Ethereum transactions without affecting block processing times.
Blobs is designed to help Ethereum better support Layer 2 networks such as zkSync, Optimism, and Arbitrum, and help meet the storage needs for these networks.
