The Block host Scott Cam reveals major change in the rules ahead of the new season: ‘We’ve never done this before’

For the first time in The Block history, teams will receive copes of the entire production schedule at the beginning of the next season.

Long-serving host Scott Cam shared the major rule change while speaking to 2DAY FM’s Hughesy, Ed & Erin this week.

‘We showed them the entire schedule – we’d never done that before,’ he began.

‘But it’s such a big build that we thought, we need to give them a heads up so they can plan for the future.’

Cam also revealed the contestants received an artist’s rendering of each house before they begin construction.

It comes after the production schedule was the centre a huge scandal during The Block in 2021.

Contestant Tanya Guccione was busted taking a photo of a printed schedule in Scot’s office before sending it around to some of the other teams.

Seeing the schedule gave an advantage, as it allowed for preparations to be made in advanced of room reveals and challenge days.

Last month, Cam set the record straight about rumours he plans to retire from Nine’s hit renovation show at the end of the year.

The presenter attended a launch party for the upcoming season of his show and told the crowd he is planning on staying for a long time.

‘Two months ago I signed a multiple year deal with the Nine Network. It was an easy decision as I love this show and couldn’t think of going anywhere else,’ he told Daily Mail Australia.

Cam then said while he had no immediate retirement plans, when that day came in the distant future he had the perfect person in mind to take over as host.

‘I reckon the only person who could do it is my current co-host Shelley Craft, that’s right,’ he said.

Cam added the upcoming season would provide gripping entertainment for viewers, with a mixture of heartwarming and heated moments.

‘It’s a friendly Block but there is hidden controversy throughout, it bubbles away until it hits a peak. It’s very exciting,’ he said.
