I took a sleeper train through North Korea. Here’s what it was like and the things that surprised me most (including how ‘boozy’ the journey was and a girl band playing at a restaurant)

The destination for the train was officially Pyongyang, but the ticket might just as well have said ‘alternate reality’.

Because that’s what adventure blogger Anthony Middleton said he found when he arrived in the North Korean capital aboard the Pyongyang Express from China.

I’m in the ‘Club Car’ for breakfast and I’ve brought a spy thriller book to read, but there’s no chance of me reading a single sentence.

Not with scenery as spectacular as this.

I’m at a particularly nailbiting moment in the tome, too, but the breathtaking Scottish wilderness rolling past the north-bound Caledonian Sleeper I’m on keeps my eyes glued to the window.

At least 100 deaths now linked to recalled Fisher-Price sleeper

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) say the Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play Sleepers, which were initially recalled in April 2019, have now been linked to more 100 infant deaths.

The initial recall was issued almost four years ago after it was reported that at least 30 infants had rolled from their back onto their stomach or side while unrestrained in the sleeper, or under other circumstances.
