Man Utd handed £25m lifeline as Nottingham Forest’s Matt Turner stance emerges | Football | Sport

Manchester United have been handed a major transfer boost, with reports emerging that Dean Henderson could still join Nottingham Forest this summer. Steve Cooper’s side are in advanced talks with Arsenal over a move for Matt Turner, but he is not the only goalkeeper that the club are hoping to acquire this summer.

Erik ten Hag made it no secret that he was keen to shake up all of his ranks this summer, pushing for signings in all departments. Following the decision for David de Gea to be released as a free agent, it quickly became clear that a reshuffle between the sticks was on the cards.

Andre Onana was acquired from Inter Milan as a result, and a further acquisition should not be ruled out. Several younger shot-stoppers have been linked with making the move to Old Trafford, including Zion Suzuki, to play second fiddle to Onana.

However, a new No 2 has not been pursued yet as Henderson has not been offloaded. The England international looked destined to join Forest this summer following his loan spell at the club, but those plans were recently thrown into jeopardy when the City Ground outfit pursued Turner in a deal worth approximately £7million.

Negotiations with Arsenal are at a very advanced stage, leaving many pondering where Henderson will play next season. However, talkSPORT report that Forest are in the market for two goalkeepers this summer and are intent on signing Henderson as well.

United value the 26-year-old at approximately £25m, and that would be a major boost for the club if they can negotiate a deal with Forest for a fee around that mark. Ten Hag is desperately looking at ways to bolster his finances for the latter stages of the transfer window so cashing in on a wantaway star is the ideal outcome for all parties, especially with linked replacements available for lesser fees.
