Kathy Hilton defends late mom liking Sinéad O’Connor after criticism

Don’t come for “Big Kathy.”

Kathy Hilton is fiercely backing her late mom, Kathleen Richards, for enjoying Sinéad O’Connor’s music when she was still alive.

The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum, 64, revealed in the comments section of Page Six’s Instagram post about O’Connor’s shocking death Wednesday, “The last 3 days of my Mothers life Sinead OConnors music was all she listened to 🙏💔.”

A critic then replied, “why would you play music of some whack job who walked with the devil on earth for your dying mom who’s [sic] would I’m sure prefer to go to heaven ?? Seems odd.”

Hilton wrote back that her mom, who died of breast cancer in March 2002, likely had “no knowledge” of O’Connor’s alleged beliefs.

“She liked the music leave my dead Mother alone🥲,” the socialite added.

The social media user was likely referring to O’Connor’s outspoken criticism of the alleged sexual abuse of children within the Catholic church.

The Grammy winner famously shredded a photo of Pope John Paul II while performing on “Saturday Night Live” in October 1992, which got her banned from NBC for life and booed off of several stages thereafter.

O’Connor died Wednesday at the age of 56, though the cause has not yet been revealed.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad,” the legendary musician’s family confirmed in a statement.

“Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”

The “Nothing Compares 2 U” vocalist notably canceled all of her gigs in June 2022 for her “health and well-being” — an announcement that came five months after her 17-year-old son, Shane, died by suicide following two prior attempts.

Just last week, O’Connor tweeted about how much she was still struggling with her second youngest child’s passing.

In response to a prompt that read, “Tell me how your life is going with emojis,” the grieving mother answered, “😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭#lostmy17yrOldSonToSuicidein2022. Been living as undead night creature since.”

“He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul. We were one soul in two halves,” she continued. “He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him.”

The “No Man’s Woman” hitmaker, who was known for her defiant personality and shaved head, experienced her own mental health struggles over the years.

Following a physically abusive childhood, she was later diagnosed with complex post-traumatic stress disorder, borderline personality disorder and bipolar disorder.

She also acknowledged experiencing suicidal thoughts in recent years.

O’Connor was married and divorced four times, and is survived by son Jake, 36, daughter Roisin, 27, and son Yeshua, 16.
