Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez has revealed that he’s been trying to get in touch with Tim Anderson so that he can apologize for his part in their mid-game brawl on Saturday, but the White Sox shortstop seems to be ghosting him.

Ramirez, 30, released a statement on Monday shortly after MLB officials handed him a three-game suspension as a result of the incident, describing Anderson as a ‘very good baseball player’ and that he regrets squaring up to him, according to Hector Gomez.

‘Everyone who knows me, knows well I’m not somebody who’s out there looking for trouble,’ added Ramirez. It’s been part of my personality and behavior to give 100 percent everyday at the field to help my team and trying to be an example for the younger players on my team.’

The five-time All-Star also disclosed that Anderson hasn’t been picking up his phone in light of his six-game ban, two days after getting punched by Ramirez in front of fans at the Guardians’ Progressive Field.

‘I’ve been trying to reach to him directly and apologize but haven’t received an answer,’ further said Ramirez in his statement.

‘I want to reiterate apologies for my behavior and as always my goal is to help my team to win and reach the postseason.’

Anderson — who was knocked out during Saturday’s brawl – shared a cryptic tweet after the fight, in which he said ‘keep kicking on me while I’m down…’

But, other than that, the 30-year-old has stayed quiet on his point of view of the entire situation.
