Whether these styles ‘cheapen’ your aesthetic, create a dated display, or are simply out-of-place in an ordinary home, the wild world of TikTok interior trends can be a minefield to navigate.
The experts admitted that fads such as LED lights are ‘overdone’ and can often ‘can often make your home look cheap.’
They revealed the TikTok interior fads that are not worth investing in this summer. So, what should we be avoiding?

LED light strips have gained tremendous popularity on TikTok, with over 10 billion views on videos featuring the plastic strips.
However, these RGB lights can degrade the overall aesthetic of a space if not placed thoughtfully.
Additionally, the adhesive used in the strips has a tendency to peel off any paint or wallpaper it sticks to, leading to a nightmare scenario when it comes to removal.
In its place, opting for ambient, layered lighting in the form of floor, wall, and ceiling lamps can elevate the atmosphere from child-like to chic.
If you are a fan of the colour changing feature that LED strip lights provide, consider using coloured light bulbs to achieve a sophisticated alternative that adds depth and character to your home.
Slat Walls

Instead of jumping on this bandwagon, explore a more subtle approach, such as delicate panelling.
Although panelling has been around for years, this classic alternative provides a refined aesthetic that adds a touch of elegance to any room without overpowering or contrasting its overall design.

Plus, taking on a jungle of pots without taking the time to properly care for them can lead to disaster, from fungus gnats to rotting roots. Instead, try to adopt a more balanced approach to houseplants, by strategically placing a few statement stems throughout your home.
Choose plants that thrive in indoor conditions and ensure you meet their light, water, and oxygen needs.

The TikTok trend of ‘diamante design’ or ‘Y2K sparkle’ took the social channel by storm during its most popular phase, reaching almost 1.1 billion views, inviting users to reminisce upon the ‘glamorous’ stylings of the early 2000’s.
While it may have initially captured attention with its nostalgic sparkle, the excessive use of diamante accents in any form can create an overwhelming and tacky aesthetic.
If you still love a blingy display, but want to move away from outdated designs, instead opt for high-shine, metallic finishes throughout your home.
Through introducing reflective accessories such as mirrors, and incorporating statement metallic furnishings such as sideboards or bed frames, you can still curate a glamorous aesthetic, without sticking gems to all that the eye can see.

It comes after an Interior designer revealed three hacks for messy girls who want to keep a tidy home.
Briellyn Turton, from Sydney, took to her TikTok @studiobrie to give tips on how to keep your home chic.
Brie, who is the founder of Studio Brie, captioned the clip: ‘Messy Girls Guide to Interior Design!’
Starting off the clip, which racked up over 61,000 views, she said: ‘If you love interiors but you’re not the tidiest person, then you are in the right place.’
She started off by revealing rule number one was the bedside ‘rule of three’.
She explained: ‘I swear by this, we need three different compartments for three different types of things that I know you’ve left on your bedside table.
‘Number one is a tray for things that are meant to be there. So, on my bedside table, that is a room spray and a little dish for my engagement ring.
‘Number two is a smaller dish for last minute things that I have forgotten to take off, like earrings or hair ties. They go in dish number two.
‘Now, compartment number three is a little drawer at the top of your bedside table to put all of the random things that have somehow compiled themselves on top of your night stand.
‘They get swept in there when we go to bed. You can go to sleep in a nice, clean space and you can clean that drawer out later.’
The designer’s second tip was about sorting out your pantry, with the TikToker saying you don’t have to decant everything to make it look tidy.
Showing a snap of baskets in a cupboard, she said: ‘We can still have a good looking pantry it’s just going to look a little more like this.
‘This allows us to keep things in their original packaging because I know you have got good intentions of decanting everything but you’re not going to keep them up.
‘So instead [you should buy] big boxes [which] you can throw things in.
‘It keeps things uniform, it keeps it neat and aesthetic, but we don’t have to do the upkeep of the decanting.’
The expert’s final tip was to have an ‘abundance of matching coat hangers’ in a box in the wardrobe.
‘I want you to go as far as always having a spare box of coat hangers in the bottom of your wardrobe,’ she said. ‘Because then, again, the floordrobe is out.
‘If you have a beautiful set of matching coat hangers, it just makes you more motivated to actually pick up your pieces and put them back in your wardrobe.
‘You might even colour coordinate while you’re there.’
