Handsome TV presenter looks unrecognisable after chopping off his trademark long curly locks

A former T4 presenter looks worlds apart from his old self after chopping off his long curly hair.

Alex Zane, 44, was a heartthrob famed for his long floppy locks – and looks so different with his short do and neat beard.

Sharing a picture of his new look on social media, one follower wrote:  ‘You’ve lost the source of your powers!’

Alex, who’d posted a brooding snap of himself on the app, hit back ‘Shhhhh, don’t tap into a very real fear!’

However, he couldn’t disguise his amusement, replying with a tears of laughter emoji.

Who is that? A former T4 presenter looks unrecognisable after cutting off his long curly trademark locks – sharing a picture of his new look on Instagram on Friday

It's Alex Zane! The TV star as he usually looks

@azzafox9 chimed in to say: ‘You look fantastic mate, but as a long haired man myself I feel like I’ve lost a brother!’

Though some are mourning the loss of his long hair, Alex doesn’t look back on his younger looks quite as favourably.

In fact, he posted a montage recently exclusively of photos from his 20s, captioning it: ‘You know those times when you think you’re cool but you’re just kinda… not?’

Meanwhile, other fans joked that film star pal Tom Cruise wouldn’t recognise him with his new look.

Alex has been in the industry for decades, having first started his career aged 18 at an open mic competition known as So You Think You’re Funny?

He almost avoided the entertainment industry altogether, as he originally started out studying Medicine, but he ended up enjoying his slot on college radio more.

After dropping out of the course, he switched to a Media and Communications degree, and won radio presenting slots on stations such as XFM and NME Radio.

The rising star notably presented the weekday breakfast show on XFM between 2007 and 2009.

He dabbled in comedy, appearing at Edinburgh Festival with his own stand-up show, and the handsome star also attracted plenty of attention on ITV.

Alex presented TV coverage of major music events, including the V Festival and Wireless Festival, but in recent years he has described himself as a ‘film journalist’.

The Sky TV Cinema host’s huge transformation might leave some struggling to recognise him in comparison to his early days.

His hair is even significantly shorter than it was when he interviewed Christopher Nolan on the Sky Arts channel two weeks ago.

The action-packed interview, according to Alex’s Instagram account, was set up to ‘discuss bringing the story of Oppenheimer to the big screen’.

However, he’s rocking his latest style with confidence, as his Friday afternoon snap to kick off the weekend demonstrated.
