Dr Ranj Singh ‘throws shade’ at This Morning in health update after hospital dash | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Dr Ranj Singh reflected on his “crazy week” after he was rushed to the hospital with “severe gastroenteritis” caused by food poisoning.

His condition got so bad that he couldn’t keep enough fluid in and ended up dehydrated with “acute kidney injury”.

“But after some amazing #NHS care from the team at Manchester Royal Infirmary (shout-out to the Virtual Ward team!), my kidneys are back to normal and I was able to celebrate the end of another top-rating season with @bbcmorninglive!”

The 44-year-old shared a selection of posts partying with his Morning Live colleagues including Gethin Jones and Bake Off star Briony May Williams.

The doctor continued: “I can’t tell you how much this show means to us. There is a reason it is currently the MOST POPULAR and HIGHEST RATING daytime magazine show in the country.

“Yes, you read that right. Where many shows are fighting to keep up ratings, @bbcmorninglive is bucking the trend.

“Why? Because it genuinely cares about its viewers, and values every single member of the team and what they bring to the table. THIS is what a TV family looks like and I’m so happy (and lucky) to be a part of it.” (sic)

Ranj concluded that the show is taking a summer break but will be returning to screens at the end of the month.

Some of his 347,000 followers suspected that Ranj’s message was a dig at This Morning, where he previously worked for five years.

Natalie quipped: “Oooooh. Shade thrown. Loves it. Glad you are happy and most important healthy now darling.”

Jo echoed: “Aw wonder what you’re referring to [wink emojis]. So glad to you’re on the mend.”

And Mags said: “Nothing like a b****y comment.”

Several members of the Morning Live team also commented to share what a great night they had together.

Actor Wayne Perrey wrote: “We really are a family at Morning Live. Pure joy to work with everyone.”

Producer Hannah Thompson added: “Bl**dy brilliant night, bring on the next one.”
