Arteta was also dealt a blow this week when it was revealed that Gabriel Jesus had suffered an injury. The Brazilian suffered a flare up on the same knee that he had surgery on midway through last season.
It’s left Arteta with some more questions heading into the start of the season, but the Arsenal boss is confident Jesus won’t be out for too long.
“He is fine. He is disappointed as he was feeling good but this issue was there,” he said. “No one expected a [medical] procedure but we made that decision, I’m sure he will be back soon.”
