Alpine sack Otmar Szafnauer and employee of 34 years in major team shake-up | F1 | Sport

Permane joined the team back in 1989 and has remained with the construct through all of its previous guises. Alpine confirmed the duo will continue his duties as normal this weekend before leaving the team ahead of the summer break.

Bruno Famin, VP, Alpine Motorsports, will take on the role of Interim Team Principal from the Dutch Grand Prix. Meanwhile, current Alpine Academy Director Julian Rouse is promoted to Interim Sporting Director with Matt Harman leading the technical team at Enstone.

A statement read: “The team would like to thank Otmar for his hard work over the past 18 months and for leading the team in achieving fourth place in the 2022 constructors’ championship. The team wishes him the best for the future.”

Alpine have struggled in recent races with the French manufacturer failing to secure any points at the last two events. Both Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly retired at the British and Hungarian Grand Prix which leaves the team P6 in the Constructors’ standings.
