A pancake fit for a Princess! Kate Middleton is elegant at a care home

The Princess of Wales was left in hysterics today as she attempted to flip a pancake during a visit to a care home on Shrove Tuesday.

Kate Middleton, 41, who earlier this week attended the BAFTA awards in London alongside Prince William, was all smiles as she arrived at  Oxford House Nursing Home this morning.

The royal, who wore a floral face mask once inside the care home, met with staff and residents and hear how delivering high-quality, patient-focused care is at the centre of the home’s work.

The mother-of-three looked chic for the appearance, opting for a smart navy polo neck with matching trousers and recycled her trendy £470 camel coat from Max&Co.

However she was left in fits of giggles as she tried to use a hot plate at the care home to cook pancakes – with little success.

She could be heard asking for tips from the chef before trying to flip the pancake, saying: ‘I’m going to try to go but I think it’s going to get stuck. Definitely don’t eat that one! All the ones made earlier are much nicer.’

As they waited for the pancake to cook, she said: ‘I wish there was music going on or something! Maybe I can watch everyone else doing this afterwards.’

During the visit, she wore her long brunette  locks down across her shoulders in a bouncy blow dry, and opted for neutral makeup, with a sweep of eyeliner and a touch of blusher on her cheeks.

Kate has worn the jacket on a number of occasions in the past, including for a visit to Scarborough and an appearance at a Cultural Centre in Reading in November.

During her visit to the home, The Princess of Wales heard more about Oxford House’s use of cutting edge, interactive technology to stimulate and enrich the daily lives of residents.

This includes the use of an interactive sensory table which was purchased in 2020 as a creative response to the pandemic and associated restrictions, and a new interactive wall which will be used to support residents with dementia.

Kate also joined residents taking part in a pancake making activity to mark Shrove Tuesday, before visiting the home’s award-winning garden to meet with staff and volunteers.

Oxford House is a family-run nursing home that first opened its doors to residents in 1980.

The home provides nursing care for up to 34 residents, supporting them to live as full a life as possible, and prides itself on providing outstanding levels of care delivered within a homely and comfortable environment.

Oxford House also operates a domiciliary care organisation, Oxford House Community Care, which provides support to enable people in the local area to reside safely and independently in their own homes.

The Princess sent royal fans wild as she appeared to give her husband Prince William a gentle tap on the behind while at the event.

As the couple arrived at Royal Festival Hall in London, Kate and the prince appeared to exchange a few words, before she leant across and appeared to give his behind a soft tap.

It was a rare moment of PDA for the couple, who appeared relaxed and overjoyed to be attending the event, which has become an annual occasion for the two.

Kate opted for an Alexander McQueen one-shoulder gown for the occasion, which she first wore to the event in 2019.

The white one-shouldered gown has undergone some minor alterations, with the floral detailing on the shoulder swapped for a sweeping train of material.
