Adultery is certainly as old as the principle of monogamy. It is a subject which took part in the good years of Vaudeville, which is at the center of numerous operas and films, which regularly makes the headlines of the tabloids and which has long monopolized the courtrooms. And if it is no longer criminally reprehensible these days, adultery nevertheless remains a business for private detectives because of the financial issues that it can represent within a couple. Alex Darcq, it’s a pseudonym, is one of these private investigators whose tracking down deception constitutes 30% of his activity. “I have been doing this work for twenty years, you can say that I have a certain expertise in this field,” he explains to 20 minutes.

“The guide is written in double reading because it is aimed at both camps: the deceptive “Casanovas” and the deceived “Sherlocks”, insists the detective. Thus, in nearly 300 pages, Alex Darcq delivers his professional advice for getting or not getting caught. “This ranges from the choice of lover to the means of communication to be used, including the organization of discreet meetings or the management of one’s spouse during the meeting,” he lists. The “Gold version” of the guide even offers a whole chapter on how to manage the detective that your spouse will have launched after you.
Advice that risks complicating the task of investigators
The work is cynical and the author is aware of it. He also knows that his initiative will raise eyebrows within his profession. “To say that this amounts to shooting ourselves in the foot is wrong. We will always have to provide evidence to build a case,” says Alex Darcq. He recognizes, however, that his advice risks complicating the task of investigators and that it will take them more time to confuse the infidels. It doesn’t matter since in this profession, time is money.
