Despite sharply declining popularity, Attal still ahead of Macron

The executive is once again going through the polling mill. The popularity of Gabriel Attal shows a sharp decline in April when Emmanuel Macron is stable but with a rating lower than that of his Prime Minister, according to Ipsos polls for La Tribune Sunday and Ifop for Sunday Newspaper.

According to Ipsos, the tenant of Matignon loses 4 points compared to March, with 34% favorable judgments on its action. Ifop, for its part, recorded a decline of 5 points, with 40% of respondents saying they were satisfied. At the same time, the two institutes note an increase of 5 points among the dissatisfied.

Bruno Le Maire loses his first place

The rating of the Head of State does not change, with 29% satisfied at Ipsos, 28% at Ifop. Both, however, note a deterioration in the image of the head of state among Les Républicains supporters.

According to Ipsos, the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire is downgraded among the most appreciated members of the government, in a context of deterioration of public finances, ceding first place to the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin.

With a view to 2027, the French interviewed by this same institute would say they were more satisfied if Marine Le Pen (33%) or the head of the National Rally Jordan Bardella (32%) came to power, than Edouard Philippe (28%), who gives up 8 points on this item.

Purchasing power over security

And among the concerns of the French, purchasing power still holds the top spot (43%), but in sharp decline compared to March. Conversely, the level of delinquency worries 35% of respondents, or 7 points more than in March.

The Ipsos survey was carried out online from April 17 to 18 using the quota method with a sample of 1,000 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over. Margin of error between 0.6 and 3.4 points. The Ifop survey was also carried out online, from April 10 to 18 using the quota method with a sample of 1,986 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over. Margin of error between 1 and 2.2 points.
