Minions, action and a baby: The first trailer for “Despicable Me 4” is here.

“Three girls, a wife? Something seems to be missing,” Gru explains in the first Trailer for Despicable Me 4. The lovable ex-villain enters the house to the sounds of Guns n’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” Then he sees the baby that his wife Lucy is carrying on her back. Gru enthusiastically jokes with his son, trying to get the word “Daddy” out of him. But Gru Jr. only has eyes for his mother. He only has angry looks for his father.

The first clip for the fourth part of the most successful animated film series of all time begins with a family (almost) idyll. But then there is bad news for Gru. His rival Maxime Le Mal has broken out of prison. Together with his lover Valentina, he wants to take revenge on Gru. Gru’s family has to go into hiding. But that doesn’t stop him from launching coups. Even Gru Jr. is there during a break-in.

Will Ferrell and Sofía Vergara are new

The English-language original features two new high-profile speakers. Comedy giant Will Ferrell (56) lends his voice to Maxime Le Mal. “Modern Family” star Sofía Vergara (51) speaks femme fatale Valentina. Steve Carell (61) returns as the voice of Gru in the original, Kristen Wiig (50) as his wife.

In addition to the first look at Baby Gru Jr., the trailer for “Despicable Me 4” offers plenty of action – and of course plenty of Minions. One of the yellow assistants ends up in a candy machine. His fellow minions make no move to free him from his situation.

“Despicable Me” is only the sixth animated series to receive a fourth part. Previously, only “Shrek”, “Ice Age”, “Toy Story”, “Hotel Transylvania” and “Kung Fu Panda” had achieved this. There are also two spin-offs about the secret stars, the Minions.

“Despicable Me 4” is scheduled to hit North American theaters on July 3, 2024. The start in Germany is scheduled for July 11th.
