On his health pass, the information was incorrect. No, Daisy (not her real name) was never vaccinated in Villejuif in July and August 2021. Neither for the first nor for the second dose supposed to protect her from Covid-19. However, this is what was written on the vaccination pass that this resident of Saint-Erblon (Ille-et-Vilaine) presented to investigators when they questioned her. This Friday, this 33-year-old woman was found guilty of using forged documents by the Rennes criminal court for having obtained a false health pass for which she had probably paid around 300 euros. She was fined 500 euros, three times less than what the prosecutor had requested.
During the hearing, the defendant considered that these were “coincidences” and assured that she had indeed been vaccinated in Rennes “near the university in Villejean”, undoubtedly referring to the vaccinodrome at the stadium Athletics. The problem is that Daisy provided no proof of this vaccination, explaining that she had acted “without an appointment” and had kept no trace of her visit to the vaccination center.
The story had in fact started at the request of the defendant. Victim of violence from her ex-partner, she called the police. Heard in police custody, the father of her children denounced his ex, referring to “purchasing a false health pass for 300 euros” with the aim of taking the plane to go to the West Indies with their daughter. What the father took a dim view of and which had caused their argument. What is most surprising in this case are the extraordinary means put in place by investigators to verify his ex’s accusations. To verify whether or not Daisy had gone to Villejuif, they checked the geolocation data on her phone and looked through her bank accounts to see if any amounts matched the father’s allegations.
The court cancels certain documents
During the hearing, the defendant’s lawyer tried to invalidate the documents provided by the gendarmes, believing that the investigative actions were excessive. The council denounced the violation of his client’s private life. The court partially heard him, canceling certain documents in the file but rejecting the nullity of the proceedings hoped for by the lawyer. His client will have to pay a simple fine of 500 euros.
