Demos in Bavaria: “This could now be a turning point in thinking” – Bavaria

Those who support refugees have often felt discouraged recently. But the protests against right-wing extremism at the weekend have changed something, says refugee worker Stephan Reichel.

Since the weekend, thousands of people have demonstrated against exclusion and extremism in large and small cities in Bavaria. The protest was directed against the AfD, which is monitored by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Bavaria, among others. But not only, says Stephan Reichel. He is on the board of the church refugee organization Matteo and is in daily contact with more than 200 helpers from all over Bavaria via a chat group. He senses a lot of frustration in the helper scene.
