Demo against the right in Munich: Ex-Mayor Christian Ude criticizes organizers – Munich

Munich has hardly ever seen such a powerful demonstration as on Sunday since the Second World War. Only once, on December 6, 1992, did more citizens take to the streets. Back then, too, the idea came from civil society. After the arson attacks in Mölln on two Turkish families and as a result of increasingly xenophobic sentiment, four private individuals organized a chain of lights for Munich. At first they were laughed at by some politicians, but their success went beyond all limits of what was imaginable for a demonstration in Munich. Around 400,000 people took to the streets with a candle, taking a stand against xenophobia.
