Death of a pedestrian hit by a tram near the station

A fatal accident occurred on the tram network in Bordeaux this Friday at 12:05 p.m., we learned from the operator Keolis Bordeaux Métropole (KBM).

“Traveling on line C between Tauzia and Gare Saint-Jean stations, a tram train hit a pedestrian who suddenly entered the track upon arrival,” explains to 20 minutes the director of Keolis, Pierrick Poirier. Stuck under the front of the tram, the man, aged around forty, was freed by firefighters who lifted the train. The emergency services were only able to note his death on the spot.

An intentional gesture?

According to initial testimonies, “the pedestrian voluntarily threw himself under the train as it passed,” says Keolis. “This hypothesis will have to be verified and confirmed by the police investigation. »

Operation of tram lines C and D was interrupted between Quinconces and Gare Saint-Jean until 2:53 p.m. Shocked, the driver of the train was taken care of, and “will benefit from support” assures the director of the company.
