After a dead teenager was found in the Diepholz district, investigators are investigating a connection to a current knife attack in Sulingen. The police have now stopped searching for clues in Barenburg.

The 17-year-old was discovered dead in a ditch in Barenburg on Sunday evening. On the night of today, a 30-year-old woman was attacked by a man with a knife in a McDonald’s parking lot in Sulingen – around six kilometers from where the body was found, a police spokesman said. The perpetrator is said to be a 42-year-old, whom the police identified based on his license plate number. The man is on the run and a search is underway for him. Investigators are currently searching several houses and apartments where he could be staying.
The search for clues at the site where the 17-year-old was found was canceled
The investigators are also evaluating initial information from the public in the case of the 17-year-old. According to the information, 25 tips had been received by Tuesday. The police and the Technical Relief Agency (THW) had originally announced today that they would continue to search for traces at the site where the body was found in Barenburg near Kirchdorf. However, the search measures were called off, the spokesman said. The reason for this is, on the one hand, the weather situation, but on the other hand, there is currently no prospect of success.
Searched ditches and fields for tracks
In Barenburg on Tuesday, the emergency services also used an excavator to search the ditch in which a cyclist had discovered the 17-year-old on Sunday evening. They also looked for tracks in the nearby fields. According to the police, it is clear so far that the 17-year-old, who comes from the Sulingen area, did not die in a traffic accident and that it was not a sexual offense. Otherwise, the homicide was “very mysterious,” a police spokesman said.
Is the location “Schwarzer Dieken” also the crime scene?
According to the information, the 17-year-old was on inline skates between the fields on Sunday. At around 7 p.m., a cyclist discovered her body in the ditch next to the road on “Schwarzer Dieken” street. It is still unclear whether the location where it was found is also the crime scene. A 25-member murder squad called “Inliner” is investigating the case.
