Daycare closed for three months due to safety breaches

The doors will be closed on Monday and will remain closed for a period of three months. Due to “various dysfunctions” reported by parents since December, the prefecture and the department of Seine-Maritime took the decision to close the Beauvoisine micro-crèche. An inspection carried out on Thursday, which followed various unannounced checks and formal notices which remained without effect, “made it possible to conclude that the safety of the children was not ensured within this reception area”, specify the authorities.

“As a result, the prefect of Seine-Maritime immediately took the decision of a temporary administrative closure, for a period of three months, starting this Monday, April 15,” according to the press release. The Beauvoisine micro-crèche, which belongs to the company Grandir (Les Petits Chaperons rouge), indicates on its site that it accommodates ten cradles. The services of the CAF of Seine-Maritime were “immediately mobilized in order to offer the families concerned reception within early childhood relays, from this Monday”, according to the same source.

Large groups of nurseries will be controlled

At the end of March, the government announced the launch of a campaign to control large groups of crèches, as recommended by Igas inspectors last year after the death of a baby in a private crèche in Lyon in 2022.

The Minister responsible for Children and Families, Sarah El Haïry also wants to align the less demanding regulatory framework for micro-crèches (less than twelve cradles) with that of small crèches.
