“Daughter-in-law wanted” fans can only see the format in the stream and no longer on TV. What will happen in the future?
Dogs instead of daughters-in-law: The RTL dome format “Daughter-in-law wanted” will no longer be shown on TV in the future. As the broadcaster reports, the remaining episodes of the current season will only be broadcast via the in-house channel Streaming service RTL+ shown. In place of “daughter-in-law wanted” presenter Angela Finger-Erben (44), presenter and dog trainer Martin Rütter (53) will take over on television from Sunday with his format “The puppies are coming – with Martin Rütter”.
What happens next with “daughter-in-law wanted”?
“An important piece of information on our own behalf: ‘Looking for a daughter-in-law’ will no longer be shown on RTL TV from now on. […] From now on you can find the new episodes with our likeable sons weekly exclusively on RTL+,” says one post on the show’s Instagram channel. There are still four episodes left, but will there be more in the future after the episodes that have already been filmed?
“The remaining four episodes will be shown on RTL+,” confirmed an RTL spokesman when asked by the news agency spot on news. The broadcaster does not yet want to say what will happen next: “We will comment on the future of the format in due course.” So it is still uncertain whether things could continue after the remaining episodes have been published.
Criticism and bad ratings
The 15th season of “Daughter-in-Law Wanted” started in March. Taking the show off the TV schedule could be a reaction to weak ratings. According to one Report from the media magazine “DWDL” Only a little over a million people tuned in on Easter Sunday. This is an all-time low for the show. In recent years there has been repeated criticism of the format.
Around 2016, Jan Böhmermann (43) and his then “Neo Magazine Royale” team managed to sneak two actors into the show, which was then moderated by Vera Int-Veen (56). In a “#verafake” post, Böhmermann then criticized, among other things, the way the format’s participants were treated. He and the team were awarded a Grimme Prize in 2017 for the contributions “One Player Loop” and “#verafake”.
